Weaving Circle with Aunty Helen

Join us for a special basket weaving workshop with Aunty Helen Harrison, a Kurni elder from Lake Tyers.

"Good day and womanjeka. My name is Helen Harrison, I'm a Kurni elder from Lake Tyers. I'm a traditional basket weaver, taught by my dear old grandmother from the age of five, weaving baskets made from reeds called lomandra. I've worked in schools, outdoor programs, Johnstone Park in Geelong and many other places over the years. You might like to learn to make a basket, or something smaller and more personal, like a little beaded badge."
Participants will learn traditional weaving.  All materials will be supplied.

Where: Torquay Community House, 14 Price Street, Torquay
When: Wednesday 2 September, 10am - 11:30am.
Cost: $30 per participant, $20 concession.

• All attendees must purchase a ticket
• Victorian Carer card accepted

• Full refund of fees will be payable if classes are cancelled by Torquay Community House
